Rafal Makes History at Barcelona

While the Russian Fairy Maria Sharapova won over the World Number One Victoria Azarenka on the red clay of Stuttgart Germany, it was Nadal making history on the red clay of Barcelona the same day.

The World Number Two from Spain, Rafael nadal made history to win the ATP BArcelona title for the seventh time - the same way he won the Monte Carlo event 8th time just a few days back and thus became the first player in the open era to win two tournaments seven times.

Nadal beat sixth ranked Ferrer 7-6 (1), 7-5. The win at the 10th all-Spanish ATP final was David Nadal's 48th career win.

After the match, Nadal told the Spanish state TV:
"This is the hardest match I had on clay court this season, David always takes you to the limit - A bit of it was lottery, luck fell on my side today."
