Germany vs Argentina: It is tonight – the World Cup Final

Today is the great day as one of the greatest sport event of the year is being held Estádio Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro when Germany and Argentina clash together for the World Cup 2014 trophy.

Germany have won three and lost just one of the previous six World Cup encounters with Argentina (D2). Germany also won the penalty shootout in 2006 against Argentina. This would be Argentina’s fifth World Cup final, they have won two and lost two of the previous four.

As for the Germans, they are set to play their eighth World Cup final; more than any other nation. They have won three titles.

The Germans are fully charged after routing Brazil 7-1 in the semis – so let us see who takes on who tonight in the Grand Finale at 8pm GMT | 4pm, Brazil time, at Estádio Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro.

And one more thing about the World Cup: Pakistan which ranks 164 on FIFA ranking has been present all along on the soil of Brazil as Brazuca, the official match ball of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup is made in Pakistan

The Dutch hammer three more nails in Brazilian coffin

The Dutch did it tonight – hammering three more nails in the Brazilian coffin in the match for the third position of the World Cup 2014.

The Dutch goals spree started with the Persie’s conversion of a penalty right in the third minute, followed by another goal by Blind in the 16th. And then the battle continued for a goal from the hosts side but all half-attempted efforts went in vain.

And as if two goals were not enough to humiliate the Brazilians as Wijnaldum scored the third goal seconds before the final whistle to beat the hosts of World Cup 2014 with 3-0. And throughout the match, Brazil’s squad was booed by home fans in Brasilia.

Brazil plays against Netherlands for a possible face save tonight

After its humiliating defeat at the hands of the Germans 1-7, Brazil plays for a possible face saving against Holland for the third position at Estádio Nacional de Brasilia, Brasília, tonight.

Brazilian Neymar, who did not play against Germany due to injury, has urged his teammates to put in their best tonight to win over the Dutch to take away the shame they brought to their country by losing to Germany in the semifinal.

So do not forget to watch this interesting, if any is left, tonight at Estádio Nacional de Brasilia, Brasília, on Saturday July 12, 2014 – the match kicks off at 20:00 GMT | 21.00 (BST)

Argentina take advantage of kicks to move to World Cup final

Argentina's team celebrates the victory after penalty kicks [Photo: BBC]

The match between Argentina and Netherlands was in complete contrast to what we saw a day before where the hosts Brazil played like school boys and let the Germans win over them mercilessly.

The goalless match in the full time, followed by 20 and 10 minutes extra time speak of the professionalism of the players from both camps - some say they both had five of the best forwards playing in the world today. However, neither Persie nor Messi could come up with a field goal to end the match in a thriller.

It was then the penalty kicks that decided the match in Argentina's favour 4-2. Now Argentina proudly marches into the World Cup 2014 final after their 1990 last time and face the onslaught of the Germans.

But the Germans be cautioned that Argentina is no Brazil, who used up all its energies in preparing for the mega event rather than focusing much on their team. So let us watch and wait till Sunday and see who finally lifts the coveted trophy.

Argentina vs Netherlands: FIFA World Cup 2014 – Semis | Watch Free Live Streaming – 9 July

After the humiliating defeat of 7-1 Brazil at the hands of Germany last night, the second semifinal between Argentina and Netherlands kicks off tonight at Arena Corinthians, São Paulo to decide who marches into the final to play the Germans.

The two teams playing the second semifinal have no less than world’s five forwards which is the indicator of the fury we are about to witness tonight. Unless any of the team behaves like Brazil, we can rest assured of a superb match befitting of a World Cup status.

Like Brazil lost its captain and forward, Netherlands’ magical striker Robin van Persie may miss the World Cup semi-final after struggling with a stomach complaint. In the opposing camp, Argentina midfielder Angel Di Maria is out because of a thigh injury but may return in his country's final match.

Who is going to win tonight? Well after Brazil’s defeat I would keep my fingers crossed, but many are of the opinion that this could be Argentina's World Cup. However, the fact is that Argentina's victory over the Netherlands in the 1978 final is the only time they have beaten the Dutch in eight meetings in all competitions (D3, L4).

But this is also a fact that Argentina has never lost a World Cup semi-final, winning the previous four. While it is Netherland’s third semifinal in the last four World Cups. So this makes both teams strong enough to contest and compete with their full might tonight to book a date with Germany.

So do not miss the second semifinal between Argentina and Netherlands beginning 20:00 GMT | 21:00 BST at Arena Corinthians, São Paulo, on Wednesday, 9 July, 2014.

The Brazilian fans 'morn' in silence the humiliating defeat of their team [Photo: Reuters]

Did you see the match between Germany and Brazil? If not, could you believe it what happened last night? You wouldn't as Germany mauled the hosts Brazil with SEVEN goals to march into the World Cup Final.

This was the worst defeat ever in the history of the World Cup. The German onslaught started right from the 11th minute goal by Müller which continued for yet another five goals in the first half.

But as if this wasn't enough as the Germans scored two more goals in the second half to ensure complete thrashing of the hosts. It was Oscar from the hosts side who hit a goal in the 90th minute to face save his team.

Germany will now play either Argentina or Netherlands - who face each other on Wednesday - in Sunday's final.

World Cup Update: Belgium and Argentina join the Round of 8 Group

The last two slots of the Round of 8 have finally been filled by Belgium and Argentina yesterday.

Although the Americans made alst minute effort and succeeded to have a lone goal in 107th minute, they could do no more to prevent the Belgians carrying the day and let them enter in the last eight teams.

The second match between Argentina and Switzerland was almost the same as the match between Belgium and USA. There was no goal till the full time. The lone goal came from Di María in the 118th minute – securing a place for Argentina in the Round of 8.

Chile routs defending champion Spain and shows it exit door

A Chilean mocks the Spaniards after the match [Photo AFP]

This was never expected - neither by the Spaniards not b the fan. But it is the hard fact that the defending champion Spain has run out of its steam and is virtually a worthless entity in Brazil as Chile shatters Spain's dream of defending its title for the second time.

The 2-0 defeat by Chile must have sent shock waves both in the Spanish team and the fans back home as the failed to score even a single goal to show some show of force as expected from the defenders.

Although Chileans possessed the ball for mere 37% of the time, the goals in 19th and 43rd minutes sealed the fate of Spain.

The first Shock-wave from Brazil: The Dutch rout Spaniards

It has hardly been a day since the FIFA World Cup football 2014 started on 12th June that a major upset happened at Arena Fonte Nova when the Dutch met the defending champion Spain.

The Spaniards may be thinking of defending of their title but all their dreams were shattered when the Dutch stunned them with so much of humiliation with a 5-1 defeat.

Although Spain’s Alonso scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute, and despite the fact that the Spaniards dominated the ball for most part of the match, the Dutch had something sinister in their mind – to annihilate the Spaniards.

Van Persie and Robben scored goal after goal from 44th minute onward and did not let the Spaniards recover from the shock-wave the Dutch sent in to the opposing camp. Tow goals each from Persie and Robben were added yet another goal from de Vrij to seal the victory – a stunning victory in fact for the Dutch.

This is the first shock wave sent out from Brazil just within two days of the tournament – how many more we would see – stay tuned.
