The Australian Open 2014 is getting to its decisive phase as it enters the seventh day of the championship and the fourth round.
Sunday today, of the many matches being scheduled, we take you to Melbourne for a fourth round important match between world no.2 and the defending champion Novak Djokovic from Serbia and 15th seeded Italian Fabio Fognini - the third match of day at the Rod Laver Arena.
Djokovic extended his unbeaten run to 27 matches on Friday night and reached the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Denis Istomin. Djokovic has not lost a match since the US Open final, when he was beaten by Rafael Nadal. Since then, he has lifted trophies in Beijing, Shanghai, Paris and at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.
It may be added here that Djokovic is chasing his fourth successive Australian Open title and fifth overall, having won his first Grand Slam championship at Melbourne Park in 2008 (d. Tsonga).
Both Djokovic and Fognini have met eight times before since they first met in Rome 2006 - and Djokovic has won seven times. There last encounter was at Shanghai last year in the third round, and the Serbian won 6-3, 6-3.
The fourth round match between Djokovic vs Fognini is scheduled for 19 January 2014 at Approximately* 03:00 GMT at Rod Laver Arena.
