Dubai World Cup Carnival begins on 9th January 2014 | Watch Live Coverage for Day-1

Dubai has recently become a sports hub of the world beside being a great tourist attraction  Now the tourists can enjoy tennis and cricket matches whenever they are visiting this Arab state. Already Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams are there in Dubai for the second test match starting today.

But for horse race lovers, we have good news as they can watch the Dubai World Cup Carnival which begins on 9th January 2014 and will continue till 29th March 2014, which will also include International racing series at the Meydan Racecourse. The Meydan plans to host some of the biggest names in horse-racing this season.

The Dubai World Cup Carnival that gets under way on Thursday, the 9th of January 2014, features 11 high-class race meets at Meydan Racecourse, including the Super Saturday on 8th March 2014, with the season-ending with $27.25 million worth prizes on Dubai World Cup day, the 29th March 2014.

This year, the 3200m $1mn Dubai Gold Cup held on the Dubai World Cup day, has been upgraded from Group 3 to Group 2 this year, while the $175,000 Meydan Sprint, held over 1000m of the turf track on Super Saturday has moved up to Group 3.

Admission is free to the public areas of Meydan Racecourse, with tickets starting at Dh.50. Gates open at 5pm and the first race begins at 6.30 pm.
