The ongoing Australian Open has brought together some of the best and top seeded tennis players at Melbourne. Now that we have reached the last four semis stage, we have seen some of the best and top seeded players like Djokovic, the defending champion, Andy Murray, Hewitt being ousted form the championship race, leaving behind only a handful.
Of these handful, the two very best players, 17 times Grand Slam Winner and former world no.1 Roger Federer and world no.1 Rafael Nadal - the tennis world titans clash today at Rod LAver Arena.
In fact today's semi final may decide who is the greatest - the match is in fact an eliminator to determine who will play Stanislas Wawrinka in Sunday's final of the 2014 Australian Open.
Tonight's encounter between Nadal and Federer is their 33rd encounter, of which Nadal leads 22-10. It may also be added that Federer had not defeated Nadal a major since the Wimbledon final of 2007. Nadal and Federer played the semi final of Australian Open in 2012 which was won by Nadal 6-7(5) 6-2 7-6(5) 6-4.
Althouigh Federer is 32 this year, he is playing with much ease and he displayed a superb tennis when he met Andy Murray in the quarters and beat him 6-3 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3.
So we keep our fingers crossed and see the clash of titans match between the Swiss and the Spaniard - do not miss it.
The second semi final of the Australian Open (men's singles) is being played between Nadal and Federer on 24 January 2014 at Approximately* 08:30 GMT at Rod Laver Arena
