Haas beats Tsonga in Berlin ATP tournament

Former German number One Tommy Haas dismantled top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the ATP Munich 6-1, 6-4 in their second round match Wednesday today.

It may be added that presently ranked Haas was once world number two in 2002 - but then continued to fall down due to many reasons including injuries. Presently he is ranked 134th.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga begins enter Munich this afternoon as the top seed Wednesday to meet Tommy Haas.

Tsonga and Haas will be squaring off for the third time in their careers when they do battle in round two of the BMW Open today.

The head-to-head series is tied up at one win apiece and they have never faced each other on clay. Haas won their first encounter 6-3, 7-6(3) on the grass courts of Halle in 2009 before Tsonga got revenge one season later with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 third-round victory at the Australian Open.
