World no.1 Victoria Azarenka and the defending champion, plays her second round match of the Australian Open against 94th ranked German Eleni Daniilidou at Rod Laver Arena on 17th January.
Azarenka won her first maiden Grand Slam last year when she defeated Maria Sharapova in the final to win the Australian title. However, thereafter, despite being world no.1, she has not been able to figure out prominently in any Grand Slam or major event. She recently withdrew from the Brisbane agianst Serena Williams, who also beat Azarenka in Istanbul. Azarenka was also beaten by Sharapova in Istanbul.
The German Eleni Daniilidou has met Azarenka twice in previously. In 2008, Daniilidou beat Azarenka in Paris in the first round, while Azarenka beat the German at Fed Cup 2011.
For tomorrow's match azarenka should be able to tame Eleni Daniilidou if she wants to defend her title this year too.
