Sochi Olympics 2014 - Medal Table


The Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 are almost coming to an end and we have some clear medal winning lead emerging with hosts Russia leading the medal table, followed by the USA.

As of today, here is the medal count for the first ten leading countries:


As can be seen Russia has a clear edge over the United States with 13 gold vis a vis 9 of the USA.Norway which started with the table top, seems to have consolidated itself at no.3 with Canada in a close pursuit. 





It may be added that in 2010 Winter Olympics  USA led the table top with 37 medals while Russia was at no.6 with 15 medals. Home ground does matter - what do you say?

Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 - Medal Count

Sochi Olympics that started with great fireworks about a week ago on 6 February in Russia, is well on its Day 9 with many countries already swelling with gold and trying to outscore others to reach the top of the medal table.

As on Day 8, Norway is in the lead with 13 medals, closely followed by Netherlands and USA with 12 medals each. So far 24 countries figure out on the medal table with six countries having more than ten medals.

A list of medal count is given herein under for the ten top medal winners:




The last country at 24 place is Slovakia with one bronze. Surprisingly, Britain which is facing the worst weather and snow blizzards has so far won only a bronze. There are six countries at the bottom of the table with one medal.

China with the biggest population count in the world has also not fared good and has so far earned only three medals (2 Gold and 1 Silver).
