Nadal moved to the finals after surviving a tough test against German qualifier Peter Gojowczyk in Doha on Friday.
Nadal's 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory confirmed him as the overwhelming favourite to take the title and do something he has never done before, win a tournament in the opening week of the year.
Frenchman Monfils beat another German, Florian Mayer, 6-3 6-2 to face the world no,1 today in the Qatar final.
It may be remembered that just two years back, Rafael Nadal was sent crashing out of the Qatar Open, by an inspired Gael Monfils who claimed a 6-3 6-4 win.
Nadal advances to a tournament finals for the 15th time in his last 18 tournaments. He'll be seeking ATP title No. 61 today against Monfils.
The final of the Qatar Open between Nadal and Monfils is scheduled for 4 January 2014 at 15:00 GMT at Doha, Qatar.
