Well gossips should end now since it is official now that David Moyes is to replace Sir Alex at the end of the season as the new manager of the Red Devils.

The former Everton boss has signed a six-year deal at the club — signalling an intent from the board to see him at Old Trafford for the long run.

This is the first time United have appointed a new manager after 26 and a half years of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s reign.

In a statement on the club’s website, Ferguson said:
“When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes.  David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here."
Until Ferguson left, Moyes was the longest serving manager in the English Premier League after the United legend and Arsene Wenger.

Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United Retiring after the Season

It has been reported just moments away that Sir Alex Ferguson will step down as Manchester United manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge.

"The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about. It is the right time," Ferguson said.

The 71 years old Scot has won 38 trophies since taking over from Ron Atkinson on 6 November 1986, including this season's Premier League title. His haul includes 13 titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups.

Alex added:
"To the fans, thank you. The support you have provided over the years has been truly humbling. It has been an honour and an enormous privilege to have had the opportunity to lead your club and I have treasured my time as manager of Manchester United."
Ferguson, who will take on the dual role of director and ambassador for United, praised the people he felt helped him build the club into one of the biggest in the world.

It's not all about money! United boss Ferguson takes a swipe at mega-rich City

Sir Alex Ferguson has rejected the theory that next Monday's Manchester derby represents a collision between passion and money.

It's not all about money!  Says Man United boss Ferguson
After looking to have their 20th Premier League title sewn up a fortnight ago, Manchester United will head to the Etihad Stadium knowing they must avoid defeat if they are not to surrender top spot to neighbours City.

Ferguson told RMC Sport:
'It's true City became rich in a pretty incredible way, but it's not the fact there is a new owner and new ambitions which necessarily change things. 'The difference is perhaps that we're trying to build with youth.'
