The former Everton boss has signed a six-year deal at the club — signalling an intent from the board to see him at Old Trafford for the long run.
This is the first time United have appointed a new manager after 26 and a half years of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s reign.
In a statement on the club’s website, Ferguson said:
“When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I’ve admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here."Until Ferguson left, Moyes was the longest serving manager in the English Premier League after the United legend and Arsene Wenger.
