Clint Dempsey's late equaliser saw Chelsea lose ground in the race for a Champions League spot after it was held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in the west London derby at the Craven Cottage here on Monday.
Frank Lampard's penalty — his 150th goal in the Premier League — had Chelsea in control, but United States international Dempsey headed home his 16th goal of the season eight minutes from time.
But Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is till hopeful of recovery. He maintains that his side must win all their remaining games in order to seal Champions League qualification. Di Matteo’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at west London rivals Fulham on Monday, leaving them two points away from the final Champions League qualifying spot held by Tottenham.
