Friday was the day of surprises - the Day-1 of the 16 nations FIVB Volleyball World League matches.
Much to the surprise of the Americans, the Frenchies totally overpwoered their team and won the day 17-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-17 in their opening pool play match of the 2012 FIVB World League in Florence, Italy. This even let the US coach Knipe say that the reception errors cost them the match.
In the other match, the hosts Italy overpowered Korea. Park Ki-Won, the Korean coach later admitted: "It's not easy at all to speak after an incredible match like that. I just can say I'm proud of my team, even if we made some errors and we weren't able to win."
Now both France and Italy come face to face Saturday today. With both teams fresh from their first day's victories, the temperatures would really be high from both sides - not to mention the additional support the Italians will have from their home crowd as they had it Friday against the Korea.
For the information of viewers on placinf of teams in different pools, here is some added information:
Japan, Serbia, Cuba, and Russia will be placed in Pool A, while Pool B will have teams from Poland, Finland, Canada, and Brazil. Likewise, Pool C will comprise of the Italy, United States, France, and South Korea. Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, and Portugal will play under the tag of Pool D.
