8th ranked left handed German Angelique Kerber and 44th ranked also left handed Russian Ekaterina Makarova play their Wimbledon second round match Wednesday afternoon at Court No.2.

This afternoon would be the fourth time that the both players are playing against each other since they first met at WTA Birmingham in 2008. Much to the surprise of many, the Russian has a 2-1 winning edge over the German.
Kerber moved to the second round after beating L. Hradecka 6-4 6-1. She has two losses agisnt eight wins in her last ten matches, one at clay (French Open) against Errani and the other at grass (WTA Eastbourne) against Paszek.
The Russian has had a 6-4 win-loss during her last ten matches. Makarova lsot two matches on clay and two on grass. She lost to Kerber at WTA Eastbourne recently 2-6, 4-6. She moved to second round after beating A. Brianti in a three set match 6-2 3-6 6-3.
For many Kerber is favourite for this round two match.
The match is scheduled for Wednesday, 27 June 2012 at 17:00 GMT on Court No.2
