Serena beats defending champion Petra Kvitová - moves two steps closer to Wimbledon title

As if Serena's dream of realizing her fifth Wimbledon title are getting nearer when she beat the defending champion and 4th ranked Petra  Kvitová 6-3, 7-5.

Serena who has won four Wimbledon titles first rose to glory in 2002 when she beat her sister Venus Williams, who had already bagged the Wimbledon title five times. Serena last held the title in 2010 when she beat Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2.

This year, she has come so close to winning the title, when all major opponents have been sidelined, including her sister Venus, Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters and the defending champion Petra  Kvitová.



What she is left with is 2nd ranked Victoria Azarenka, who playes against her in the semi final - and if she wins, she would either meet 8th ranked German Anelique Kerber or 3rd ranked Polish Agnieszka Radwanska in the finals
