On 8th of August, USA bagged Gold medals in athletics - a field where China was found missing. Despite that, China continues to rein the Olympics medal table - but USA is not far behind.

As for the tail end, there are 11 countries with one bronze - the lucky 11s if I may say so to go back home with at least one Olympic medal.
