American swimmer Michael Phelps won his duel in the pool with USA team-mate Ryan Lochte last night to scoop his 16th Olympic gold medal and 20th in total.
The 27-year-old led from start to finish in the 200 metres individual medley and held off fast-finishing Lochte to win in one minute 54.27 seconds.
