Sharapova has played Errani only once in the final of the French Open earlier this year, which she won 6-3, 6-2 to be crowned ast the French Open queen.
However, Sharapova has lost many matches since and has not been able to win any major tournament. She was ousted from US Open and beijing by Victoria Azarenka and by Stosur in Tokyo.
Errani too has had tougher luck as she has not been lucky in the same three championships as of Sharapova. She recently retired in the first set when playing Giorgi at Beijing.
Otherwise darling of many, Sharapova is favourite for today's match.
