Manchester United takes on West Ham United in the FA Cup match Saturday evening today at Upton Park.
Manchester who are on the table top in the Premier League take a time time out for the FA Cup and meet the West Ham United in the third round of the Cup matches.
Although the Red Devils are the Cup-winners a record 11 times, they have not lifted English football’s oldest trophy since 2004 and have seen Chelsea dominate the competition in recent years, winning four of the last six tournaments.
As for the Hammers, they oisuted the Red Devils from the FA Cup in the fourth round when they met each other in 2001 at the Old Trafford. It was again the fourth round last season, when Liverpool beat the Red Devils 2-1.
So with this precarious record, unless Sir Alex makes some changes and induct some fresh players, their preospects may dim in the FA Cup this season too. Specially so because their ace player Rooney is not available for another two weeks due to knee injury. However, Phil Jones and Nemanja Vidic are set to bolster Manchester United's defence for their FA Cup trip to West Ham.
