Pakistan beat Scotland in the First ODI

The visiting Pakistan cricket team beat Scotland by 96 runs in the first of the two one-day ODIs in  Edinburgh. Misbah-ul-Haq's 78 not out spearheaded Pakistan's attack while opener Imran Farhat was dismissed for 49.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 231-7. Three wickets from Majid Haq meant he became Scotland's leading wicket-taker in one-day international matches.

Chasing the target of 232, the hosts could only manage 135 as Pakistan bowled out the Scots in the 40th over. Pakistan's Ajmal and Juniad bagged three wickets each, while Irfan, Adil and Hafeez got one each.

It may be added that Pakistan last visited Scotland in 2006, winning by five wickets with 37 balls to spare at The Grange.

The two sides meet again on Sunday at The Grange.
