In the first final, defending champion and world no.2 Maria Sharapova from Russia meets world no.1 American Serena Williams on Court Philippe Chatrier Saturday in the women's singles event.
Serena and Sharapova have met 15 times in their career since they first met at Miami in 2004 - and Serena has a huge winning edge of 13-2 over the Russian.
Sharapova beat former world no.1 Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in the semis, while Williams 'slaughtered' Sara Errani of Italy 6-0, 6-1 in just 46 minutes Thursday.
It is rather strange that Sharapova, who is six years younger to Serena, plays very well against anyone. But when it comes to Serena, she seems to be under 'Serena Spell' and loses just too quickly - mostly in two sets. Serena last beat Sharapova at Madrid this year in the final 6-1, 6-4 which is reflective of awe that Serena creates when she is in the arena, specially against Sharapova.
Almost 31, Serena, with a career-best 30 consecutive matches, the longest single-season streak on tour since 2000, is now looking much too confidently to win her 16th Grand Slam. Sharapova has won 13 consecutive matches in Paris.
