In the third round, Gonzalez fought back after losing first set to Djokovic 1-6 and won the second set 6-3. However the world no 2 recovered to win the third set 6-1 and the match.
Djokovic and Cilic have played seven times before their duel tonight - and Djokovic won all seven times. They last met at Cincinnati (USA) in the quarters.
Djokovic should not have an difficulty in subduing Cilic who is a year younger to him - unless the Serbian is in for a surprise like Nadal, who crashed out of the Indian Wells at the hand of a 28th ranked player.
