Two major upsets at Wimbledon in one day as Nadal and Sharapova Exit

The first shocker came when Russian Maria Sharapova was beaten by German Angelique Kerber in a well contested three set match at the Centre Court. Having won the first set, Kerber lost the second to the Russian. But then the third set was a really a set of guts and tact. The match could tilt in either way many times, but finally it was Kerber who carried the day and shattered 2004 titlist of another Wimbledon title race.

But the second shocker was much louder than the first when a 144th ranked and 19 years old wildcard entry Nick Kyrgios from Australia proved too good for Nadal as he beat the world no.1 Rafael Nadal 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 on the Centre Court . Thus leaving out Nadal, who recently won the French Open title.

This leaves three top seeded players in the race for the tile: Djokovic, Murray and Federer – unless there is someone else like Kyrgios who can make any more upsets.
