Cricket World Cup 2015 schedule announced

The schedule for Cricket World Cup 2015 has been announced at Melbourne, Australia with Pakistan and India in the same Pool B to add spice and thrill into the competition right from the outset.

Matches scheduled for February and March 2015.

Forty-nine matches will be played in 14 venues across Australia and New Zealand: Australia will host 26 matches at grounds in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

New Zealand will host 23 matches in seven cities, including Christchurch where international cricket is set to return for the first time since the 6.3-magnitude quake which killed 185 people in 2011.

"The 2015 tournament will mark 40 years since the first World Cup in 1975 and that history of great contests and heroes helps make the tournament what it is - the most sought-after prize in our increasingly global game," said ICC chief executive David Richardson.

The first match of the prestigious one-day tournament will be held in Christchurch, when the locals take on Sri Lanka on February 14.

Title-holders India are pooled with Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and one other qualifying team.

Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United Retiring after the Season

It has been reported just moments away that Sir Alex Ferguson will step down as Manchester United manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge.

"The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about. It is the right time," Ferguson said.

The 71 years old Scot has won 38 trophies since taking over from Ron Atkinson on 6 November 1986, including this season's Premier League title. His haul includes 13 titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups.

Alex added:
"To the fans, thank you. The support you have provided over the years has been truly humbling. It has been an honour and an enormous privilege to have had the opportunity to lead your club and I have treasured my time as manager of Manchester United."
Ferguson, who will take on the dual role of director and ambassador for United, praised the people he felt helped him build the club into one of the biggest in the world.
