Ronaldo wins Ballon d'Or 2013

A tearful Ronaldo receives FIFA Ballon d'Or Award for 2013

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or for the year 2013 beating Lionel Messi and Franck Ribéry to the world crown.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid CF and Portugal forward, scored 69 goals in 59 games in all competitions and provided perhaps the standout performance of 2013 with his sensational hat-trick for Portugal against Sweden in the FIFA World Cup play-offs.

Ronaldo also set a new mark of nine goals in a UEFA Champions League group stage.

It may be added that Ronaldo was runner-up behind four-time winner Messi in 2009, 2011 and 2012 having taken the previous FIFA prize in 2008.

The FIFA Puskás Award for goal of the year was won by Zlatan Ibrahimović for his remarkable 35-metre overhead kick for Sweden against England in November 2012.

And the The FIFA/FIFPro World XI consists the eleven top football players from across the globe. These lucky ones include:

Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München); Daniel Alves (FC Barcelona), Philipp Lahm (FC Bayern München), Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid CF); Xavi Hernández (FC Barcelona), Andrés Iniesta (FC Barcelona), Franck Ribéry (FC Bayern München); Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid CF), Zlatan Ibrahimović (Paris Saint-Germain).

Ronaldo scores most goals in 2013

As the year 2013 nears its end, more and more men and women of the year are emerging. Already Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams have been declared Player of the Year at Paris recently.

As for football, 28 years old Cristiano Ronaldo has topped the footballers scoring the most goals during 2013 - Ronaldo has scored 69 goals and sits on the top of the goals table.

The 28-year-old attacker has been short-listed for the Ballon d'Or for his remarkable goalscoring exploits over the past 12 months, with the Portugal international netting 69 times for Los Blancos, making him the most prolific hit man in European club football in 2013.

However, he is not satisfied with his performance - he wants 2014 to be even better and 'goal-full.'

Following Ronaldo, the second-placed player on the 2013 goals table is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who came off second best in that aforementioned play-off shootout.

However, though the Swede has come home 22 goals shy of Ronaldo, he did at least manage to get his hands on some silverware, as it was the enigmatic forward who fired Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title last season.
