Hazard charged with violent conduct

Eden Hazard of Chelsea has been charged with violent conduct of kicking out at a Swansea ball boy by the Football Association.

The FA is of the opinion that the earlier punishment for the the Blues' Belgian midfielder of  a three matches ban is 'clearly insufficient.'

The FA says it will remind all clubs "of their responsibilities in ensuring ball boys and other personnel around the pitch act in an appropriate manner at all times".

It may be recalled that Hazard was sent off in the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg after the incident with Charlie Morgan, 17. However, Hazard claims that he was trying to retrieve the ball from under the ball boy, who had fallen on top of it, in the 78th minute of Wednesday's match.

The scoreline was 0-0 at the time, with Chelsea needing at least two goals to take the match into extra-time. The game ended 0-0 with the Swans going through with a 2-0 aggregate win.

Swansea reach Wmbley Final while Hazard kicked the Ball Boy

It was a sad day at Liberty Stadium last night when a small incident turned everyone sad and disappointed.

The incident happened when just 10 minutes of play were left in a seemingly goalless drawn match between Chelsea. In an apparent move to retrieve the ball from the ball boy, Eden hazard looked like kicking the ball boy in his ribs.

Although Hazard claims that the ball boy fell over the ball and he was simply trying to retrieve the ball, but the body language of the player and the ball bo do not seem to correspond to the player's statement.

However, Hazard was sent off and shown a red card, while the draw saw Swansea progress to next month’s final against Bradford City.

Hazard will almost certainly be handed a hefty FA sanction. Chelsea and Swansea spokesmen claimed Morgan, whose father is club director Martin Morgan, will not be pressing charges, but the police may yet intervene.

The incident overshadowed Swansea’s remarkable achievement in reaching the first major cup final in their 100-year history.
