American Grand Prix postponed until 2014

The inaugural Grand Prix of America will be postponed to 2014 due to a financing problem, organisers have confirmed.

The race was pencilled in for 16 June next year but there have been doubts whether it would take place.

Grand Prix of America promoter Leo Hindery Jnr confirmed F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone's claim the race was off.

"We're going to be racing at Port Imperial, unfortunately just not as soon as we hoped," said Hindery Jnr.

The Hungary Grand Prix Formula 1 gets underway Sunday, 29 July today at  Mogyoród near Hungarian capital Budapest.

The Hungaroring is the home of Hungarian motorsport. Besides Formula One, it has also hosted DTM and FIA GT Championship races. In 2011, it hosted the inaugural FIA WTCC Race of Hungary. A public drag race event takes place every month.

As already reported, Lewis Hamilton has secured a strong position for himself as he took the pole position saturday. With qualifying more important at the Hungaroring than at most circuits on the calendar, Hamilton will be confident of converting his pole into his second victory of the season on Sunday.

As for the Red Bull, they are in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Just days after the FIA changed the rules on engine mapping to prevent Red Bull aiding their cornering performance and tire wear.

The race is scheduled for Sunday, 29 July 2012 at 12:00 GMT

Watch Cal Crutchlow Live Streaming at Netherlands Grand Prix - Assen 28 June

While Wimbledon plays on the green grass of London and Germany is all set to face Italy in the Euro 2012 semi final at National Stadium Warsaw, Poland, the MotoGp drives on to Assen, Netherlands for the Grand Prix event.

And you know who is the maun attraction? Well no one else but Cal Crutchlow after his extraordinary performance at Silverstone a fortnight ago.

Casey Stoner – 115 points

Dani Pedrosa – 101 points

Cal Crutchlow – 66 points

Andrea Dovizioso – 60 points

There is no question that Cal Crutchlow is a man in demand. However, the big question now is where he will end up for next season - latest rumour is that the factory Ducati team want him.

Viewers should remember, by the way, that this weekend's race is on Saturday, a long-standing tradition at Assen. It's the only grand prix that is still going from the start of the sport in 1949 and race day has always been on a Saturday.

The race for Thursday 28 June are scheduled at at 13:15 GMT at Assen, Netherlands.

Chinese GP: First pole for Rosberg

Germany’s Nico Rosberg rocketed to the first pole position of his Formula One career at the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai, on Saturday in what will be an all-Mercedes front row with teammate Michael Schumacher alongside him.

Schumacher, the seven times champion whose 91st and last win came in Shanghai with Ferrari in 2006, qualified in third place but will move up to second because McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton takes a five place grid penalty for an unscheduled gearbox change.

The pole was the first for Mercedes with their own team since the late Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio at the 1955 Italian Grand Prix.
