So finally the defending champion and world no.1 Serena Williams sets a date with world no.2 Chinese Na Li for the Sony Open tennis championship 2014 at Miami Saturday evening today.
Li and Serena are both 'aged' ladies still very active on the tennis courts today. Li who is only a year younger to 33 years old Williams dares to challenge the defending champion. Much that I would have loved to see Sharapova encountering the Williams in the finals, but she chose to face the world no.1 in the semis and was knocked out as usual.
Like Sharapova, Li too has also won against Williams only twice in their long professional encounters since they first met in the first round of the Australian Open in 2006.
So it is now remains to be seen if Li can subdue the ever dominating American, who is showing no signs of resigning from her top position and is rather aiming to collect the remaining Grand Slams this year.
