The opening ceremony is expected to have a final torch relay inside the stadium, as has happened with all recent Olympic Games, with a number of sports stars, former Olympians and others selected for their contribution to the London Games carrying the torch before the flame is lit.

The final comes amid many setbacks and lady luck favouring the defending champions.Musch to the annoyance of the world and the defending champions, Portugal presented a stiff resistance to the defending champions and made it difficult to score a goal on them, not even in the extra time. It was the bad luck for Portugal who played so well that they lost on penalties as lady luck favoured the defending champions.

As for Italy, their bold and aggressive play against Germany in the second semi final completely took the Germans off guard. Despite being being heavily and hotly favourites, they failed to harness Italy's Mario Balotelli, who scored two solid goals in the first half to take the lead that was maintained till the end, despite a lone goal by the Germans.

Now let us wait for tomorrow night - a crucial one for both the spectators and the two teams. Spain is playing with nine players that also played the 2008 final. This makes them strong, though these were subdued by the Portuguese in their match with Spain in the semi final. Italy has one of the best defence that can prevent any dent by the Spaniards. And one last thing, Italy has never lost any major match in its histoy - something that scared the Germans. If Spain win Sunday night, it will make history for winning the Euro Cup twice.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, 1 July June 2012 at 18:45 GMT after the closing ceremony that commences 20:00 GMT at Olympic Stadium Kiev, Ukraine.
