Shane Shillingford Struck the Aussies 77/4 |
On the first day, the tourists won the toss and elected to bat. And by the time the play of the day ended, Australia were 212 for 7 in 90 overs - yes 212 for 7. Starc and Wade were still on the crease at 24 and 22 respectively. Warner was the most successful batsman who touched 50 followed by Watson who could not go beyond 41.
For the West Indies, the day has been really good. Perhaps they have put in some magic into their players to take a revenge of the humiliation they have faced at the hands of the tourists in the first test and almost a similar fate in the second test had it not been washed away by rain.
Shane Shillingford, the first Dominican to play a home Test, simply tore apart the middle order to his side right on top. He was the most successful bowler with 34 O, 8 M and 77 for 4. Restricting the Aussies to 2.35 runs per over, Shillingford will come back tomorrow hoping to finish off the innings but the stubborn Aussies could yet find more in the lower order. But the hosts' day for sure.
