In a surprise match on Wednesday, David Ferrer beat Andy Murray 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-3, 6-2 to play against fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the Roland Garros men's single semi-final on 8 June 2012. Nadal has already qualified for the semi final by ousting another Spaniard, Nicolas Almagro, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2, 6-3.

The Defending Champion second seeded left handed Rafael Nadal and 6th seeded David Ferrer have come across each other 21 times in their career since they first met at Stuttgart in 2004. Nadal enjoys a winning edge over fellow countryman 16-5. In their first face off at Stuttgart, Ferrer beat Nadal 6-3 6-7(3) 7-5 in the quarterfinals. The last met at Rome in the semi final when Nadal beat Ferrer 7-6(6) 6-0.
Nadal is eyeing the Roland Garros title for the seventh time this year and is in superb fighting form for having all of his last ten matches. Ferrer on the other hand has lost two of his last ten matches at Madrid (against Federer) and Rome (against Nadal).
The match is scheduled for Friday 8 June 2012 at 11:00 GMT on Court Philippe Chatrier.
