Federer first et Murray at Bangkok in 2005 and has since played 19 matches against the British and has won nine while Murray has won ten - which edges Murray by one match over Federer.

While Federer won the Wimbledon 2012, he lost to Murray in the Olympics and later at Shanghai semis. Federer again rebounded and won over Murray at ATP London in the semi finals.

Except for the age difference of six years, Federer has the experience and tact to overcome the young Brit. Both would be putting up their best show Friday tomorrow at the Rod Laver Arena when the two meet to decide who goes and threaten Djokovic in the finals being played on Sunday.

Djokovic vs Ferrer Live Free Streaming | Australian Open - 1st Semi Final (Men's Singles) - 24 January

After the two semi finals of the women's singles between Sharapova/Li and Azarenka/Stephens are over on the Thursday morning, the first semi final of the men's singles category gets played between world no.1 and the defending champion Serbian Novak Djokovic and 4th ranked Spaniard David Ferrer at the Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic which barely survived in his third round match against Wawrinka, beat Berdych in the fourth round 6-1 4-6 6-1 6-4, while losing his second set to Berdych.

In the absence of Nadal, Ferrer is representing Spain pretty well and this was visible in a very tough fourth round match against Almagro, whom Ferrer beat in a full five set match 4-6 4-6 7-5 7-6(4) 6-2.

As for Djokovic and Ferrer, they first met at Bucharest in 2004 and have since played 16 matches, of which eleven were won by Djokovic. Ferrer last won against Djokovic at Madrid on clay court - and surprisingly, all the matches that Ferrer won against Djokovic were on clay (four on clay and one on carpet). And Djokovic beat Ferrer on Hard Courts only.

If we go by above record, Djokovic is playing again on the hard court - something where Ferrer looks weaker and hence the outcome of the match!!

British no.1 and world no.4 Andy Murray makes his maiden entry into the Wimbledon final and meets Federer to clinch the title and become first British to do so in 74 years since Bunny Austin in 1938.

Murray and Federer have known each other fifteen times since 2005, when they first played each other in Bangkok. Since then they have come a long way with Murray winning over the Swiss eight times. But despite the odds, Federer is being dubbed as a hot favourite to win the title despite being six years elder to Murray for his consistency, grip over the game and resolve. However, Murray has spark and power - and this brings two players facing each other: one with experience, the other with strength and support of home crowd.

Who wins? Well I keep my fingers crossed till the match ends this Sunday.

The French on the other hand too had a difficult quarterfinal against P. Kohlschreiber, spread over four sets but fianlly won over 7-6(5) 4-6 7-6(3) 6-2.

Although, the first semi final between Djokovic and federer will draw maximum crowd, I think the entire London will swarm the Centre Court to watch their darling playing.  The match also assumes added importance because Murray, hoping to end Britain's 76-year wait for a male singles champion at Wimbledon, is now just one win away from becoming the first British man to reach the All England Club final since Bunny Austin in 1938.

Djokovic defeated Federer in Rome and the French Open this year, while Djokovic was beaten by Nadal thereafter at Roland Garros.

Federer beat Russian M.Youzhny in an easy run over of 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinal on 4 July.

On the other hand, Djokovic is all set to to defend his title and continue afresh by bagging all four Grand Slam titles - an opportunity he missed when he lost to Nadal at French Open recently.

Djokovic overpowered Florian Mayer of Germany easily too 6-4, 6-1, 6-4.

Julien Benneteau has won six of his last ten matches, last against M. Russell 7-6(4) 2-6 6-4 7-5 in the Wimbledon second round yesterday.

Federer, who is eyeing the Wimbledon title for the seventh time, should have taken a sigh of relief after Nadal's unceremonial ouster in the second round, and would be relaxed to move on to meet Djokovic in the fianl if all goes well.

Djokovic who moved to the third round by beating R. Harrison 6-4 6-4 6-4, has lost only two of his last ten matches - both at the hands of Nadal, whose threat to him is now no more after Rafa's ouster Thursday. 

But after the setback of Nadal at the hands of a Czech, Djokovic should be careful playing against yet another Czech Friday today, much stronger than the 100th ranked Rosol who beat Nadal.

The Croatian has lost SEVEn of his last ten matches, six on clay and one at grass at ATP London recently. He moved to the second round after beating D Sela 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

Andy is favourite for today's macth and has a long way to go if he keeps his cools.

Nadal had a terrible start in the first round when much to the disgust of spectators, as he lost first four games to Brazilian Tomaz Belluci before recovering to win over him 7-6 6-2 6-3. The opening match did not show Nadal in his very best form, may be he was saving his energies for later and important matches.

Thursday today when he plays against Rosol, qualified for the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time this year, Nadal has to be mindful of any slips and loose game to have a safe and unthreatned move towards the semis. 

Rafa lost Wimbledon last year and would very much want to bag his second Grand Slam this year.

Rafa has won all but one of his last ten games, losing to P. Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4 at Halle, while Rosol has lost four, two on clay and two on grass. Rosol moved to Wimbledon second round after defeating I. Dodig 6-4 3-6 7-6(0) 7-5, with some difficulty.

For Thursday's afternoon match, Nadal is the hot favourite and his fans expect him to be till the final, for which beside the defending champion Djokovic, Swiss Roger Federer is also a strong contender to win the title for the seventh time.
