The third quarterfinal of Euro 2012 will played between defending champion Spain and France at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk on Saturday 23 June 2012.
It may be recalled that Spain won the trophy in 2008. Spain also won it the second time it was held, back in 1964. France too have won the trophy twice, in 1984 and 2000.
The winner of Saturday's quarterfinal will play in the first semi-final on Wednesday 27 June, also in Donetsk, where they will meet Portugal, which beat Czech Republic in its quarterfinal match 1-0 - the lone goal was scored by Ronaldo in the 11th minute.
Who wins Saturday night is all luck and hard work. But it may be remembered that France have never lost a competitive fixture against the defending World and European champions. The Les Bleus eliminated Spain in the second round of 2006 World Cup. France also beat Spain in the quarter-finals of Euro 2000.
But the Spanish are no less enthusiastic to lift the trophy this year too. The La Roja Furia besides winning the Euro silverware in 2008, also claimed the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history, two year later in 2010.
Probable Lineups:
Spain: Casillas-Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba-Busquets, Alonso-Iniesta, Xavi, Silva-Torres
France: Lloris-Debuchy, Koscielny, Rami, Clichy-Cabaye, M'Vila-Menez, Nasri, Ribery-Benzema
The match is scheduled for Saturday 23 June 2012 at 20:45 GMT at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk
