Nadal proves his fitness - reaches Indian Wells Semis beating Federer

The match between world no.2 and the defending champion Roger Federer and world no.5 Rafael Nadal was a test case for both the players:
For Nadal it was his fitness test on hard court and for 31 years old Federer it was test of his age and the ability to defend his title at Indian Wells.

But the match proved too much one sided as Nadal, who recently recovered form his knee injury, beat the defending champion and 17 times Grand Slam winner just too easily: 6-4, 6-2. But then Federer wasn't in form as he was suffering from back injury.

The match was a blockbuster as it was the first time in ATP Tour history that two players with 28 Grand Slam titles between them were playing each other.

After the match, Nadal showed his amazement on how Federer just gave it away in the second set:
"I played a fantastic first set," Nadal said. "The second set was strange. Roger didn't fight as usual. Probably he had some problems and he didn't feel enough comfortable to keep fighting."

Nadal now faces world no.6 Tomas Berdych in the semis, who beat Kevin Anderson 6-4, 6-4 in the quarters.

In the Ladies camp, the quarterfinal results on Thursday were as under:
8-Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) beat 1-Victoria Azarenka (Belarus)WO

The teams playing the quarters are as under:

3rd February:
Côte d'Ivoire vs Nigeria - Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg
Some of the biggest names in the African Cup of Nations will go head-to-head on Sunday when Ivory Coast and Nigeria fight to stay on track for their first title in two decades. Ivory Coast have been consistent in their display throughout the tournament winning 2-1 against Togo, 3-0 against Tunisia and coming from two goals down to pull a 2-2 draw against Algeria in their final group game.

The 7-8 penalties loss to Zambia in the final game of AFCON 2012 still lingers on the minds of the Ivorians and nothing will stand in their path in the quest for their second AFCON title, not even the steel their West African rivals bring to the fore.

Burkina Faso vs Togo - Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit

After the first 24 games of the competition, Africa has been served with some 49 goals already in the competition. Fans will now sit back and hope the entertainment continues when the quarter final games kick off on Saturday, February 2 in Port Elizabeth.

Real Madrid vs Valencia Watch Live Free Streaming | Copa del Rey quarterfinals: 15 January 2013

Real Madrid tonight hosts Valencia when the both play the Copa del Rey quarterfinals at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid at present are 18 points behind Barcelona and would very much like to win the quarters to get a boost. But their lackluster performance on Saturday against Osasuna in a goalless draw wasn't impressive at all.

However, their performance should improve for tonight's match as Cristiano Ronaldo and Antonio Adan are joining back from suspension for Tuesday's Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg against Valencia at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid has won just two of its last six matches in all competitions (W2, D2, L2).AAnd if the really work hard tonight and win over the Valencia, they  will face the winner of the Barcelona-Malaga tie in the semifinal.

But would Valencia let them? They have won seven of its last eight matches across all competitions and may pose difficulties for the Real Madrid to move to the semis.

This is going to be interesting and the match is worth watching, scheduled for Tuesday, 15 January 2013 at 20:00 GMT at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Djokovic vs Hass: Quarterfinals Shanghai Rolex Masters 2012 | Watch Live Free Streaming |

World no.2 Serbian Novak Djokovic plays his Shanghai Rolex Masters tennis tournament against 21st ranked German Tommy Haas Friday morning today.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the match between Haas and Djiokovic is the age difference - Haas born in 1978 is eight years older to the Serbian. The age difference is likely to take a heavy toll on the German when he meets the young Serbian today in the quarters.

Djokovic has faced Haas six times since they first met at the French Open in 2006 and the Serbian has a winning edge of 4-2 over the German. They last met in Toronto earlier this year when Djokovic beat Haas 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Andy Murray vs David Ferrer: Watch free live streaming | Wimbledon - Quarters

British no.1 and world no.4 Scot Andy Murray plays against world no.5 Spaniard David Ferrer quarterfinal match at the Centre Court Wednesday afternoon.

Much to the surprise of many, Novak Djokovic, the defending champion and world no. 1has been allocated Court No.1 rather than the Centre Court. Many are of the view that this has been done to favour Federer and Murray to pay under the covered Centre Court and leavinf the Serbian out in the open, speiclayy when the weather forecast is cloudy and likely to rain - which may disrupt the defending champion's match and may spill over to the next day, reaking the momentum and ...

Any way coming to the quarterfinal between Murray and Ferrer, it is their eleventh encounter since they first met in Barcelona 2006. Both have won five matches each.

So let us watch the match today afternoon and see who moves forward and who stops in his tracks.

Novak Djokovic vs Florian Mayer: Free Live Streaming | Wimbledon - Quarterfinals

World no.1 and the defending champion Serbian Novak Djokovic plays his quarterfinal match against 29th ranked German Florian Mayer Wednesday afternoon on Court No.1.
World no.1 and defending champion Djokovic [left] made to play his quarterfinal on Court 1 against German Mayer [right]
Djokovic has played the German twice before and won both times.

Playing by the defending champion on Court No.1 and allowing the world no.3 Federer and later 4th ranked British Andy Murray on the Centre Court is rather puzzling. The weather forecast for Wednesday today is largely cloudy with outbreaks of mainly light rain, perhaps initially locally heavy, and drizzle. However, some brighter conditions may develop, together with scattered heavy showers in the afternoon.

This means that there is a likelihood of Djokovic's match being disturbed on Court No.1 with no overhead cover like the Centre Court, which may also spill the match to day-10, breaking the momentum of the play. Does this mean that Roeger Federer is being preferred over the Serbian to take advantage of the Cente Court and allow him a trouble free match to sail him through to the finals and make history?

The match is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 July 2012 at 12:00 GMT at the Court No.1.
