Top ranked Victoria Azarenka from Belarus overcame former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 Friday to reach her first-ever U.S. Open final. On the other hand, the fourth-seeded Williams overwhelmed 10th-seeded Italian Sara Errani 6-1, 6-2 in the second semi final Friday.

Azarenka and Williams have mmet ten times before, since they first met at Australian Open in 2008 and Williams has 9-1 lifetime against Azarenka.

Although Azarenka is world no.1, Serena is being considered as the hot favourite for tonight's final, specially after her London Olympics gold medal and fifth win at the Wimbledon. 

The match is scheduled for Saturday night, 8 September 2012 at 23:00 GMT at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
