First Sochi Gold - Valentine Gift for Britain


Britain which is almost at the bottom of the medal table with a bronze for almost ten days since the Sochi Winter Olympics started, was delighted to win it its first gold as a Valentine gift.

It is Lizzy Yarnold who won the nation's first Sochi gold medal with brilliant display in the skeleton event. She beat American Noelle Pikus-Pace by almost a second to take the win.



It is Britain's second consecutive gold in the skeleton after Amy Williams won at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Upon her victory, Yarnold was handed a Valentine's card by boyfriend and coach James Roach.

London OlLympics - Day 2 | Sunday Events

The first day of Olympics on Saturday, 28 July, followed by the night long proceedings of the opening ceremony,  saw China winning the first Gold Medal of the Olympics 2012, when China's Yi Siling won a goldin the women's 10m air rifle at the Royal Artillery Barracks. The 23-year-old world number one and title favourite beat Poland's Sylwia Bogacka into second, with Yu Dan of China taking bronze.

As of saturday, China, Kazakhstan and Republic of Korea have won one gold each, while Colombia, italy and Poland have won one silver each. Belgium, Brazil, Hungary, Norway, Serbia and Uzbekistan have won one bronze each.

As the Day 2 begins Sunday, more and more events get added to the schedule of the games at London.


In the men's footbal event, Great Britain take on the United Arab Emirate.

In the Finn Sailaing event, Ben Ainslie begins the defence of his Olympic title and may be get a gold too.

Almost all the major game event s are being played at different venues in and around London Sunday 29 July 2012. 

In the swimming final events, women's 100m butterfly final is being schedules, besides women's 400m Freestyle Final, Men's 100m Breaststroke Final and Men's 4x100m freestyle Relay Final.
