The Miami Masters is one of the premier an annual tennis tournament held in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida. It is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour and is played on hard courts at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
The name of Miami Masters was renamed in 2000 as the Ericsson Open. In 2002, the event became known as the NASDAQ-100 Open. In 2007, the tournament was renamed the Sony Ericsson Open in a deal where the company will pay $20 million over the next four years.
The 2013 edition is officially named the Sony Open Tennis.
This year, world no.1 and defending champion Serbian Novak Djokovic will be eyeing the Miami title for the fourth time, and third time in a row. He won the Miami titles in 2007, 2011 and 2012. Djokovic beat Andy Murray in 2012 6–1, 7–6(7–4).
Defending champion Djokovic will try for his fourth title, while Serena Williams will seek her sixth title
Andre Agassi of USA is the only player who has won the Miami title for record six times.
As for women singles event, world no.1 American Serena Williams will try to win the Miami title for the sixth time. She won the title in a row from 2002-2004, and then after a pasue again won the title in 2007 and 2008. Other than Serena, German Steffi Graff has won the Miami title five times (1987-88, 1994-1996).
Presently Polish Agnieszka RadwaĆska is the 2012 champion, who beat Maria Sharapova 7-5, 6-4 in 2012.
