Sony Open Tennis / Miami Masters' main event the Men's Singles Final finally arrives today and we shall witness a match not for the title but also for change in the world ranking too.
Last year's runner up world no.3 Britain's Andy Murray faces world no.5 Spaniard David Ferrer in the final of the Miami Masters Sunday afternoon today.
In the semi finals played on Saturday, Andy Murray lost the opening set in a tiebreaker before beating Frenchman Richard Gasquet 6-7 (3/7), 6-1, 6-2 while Spaniard Ferrer ended German veteran Tommy Haas's giant-killing run 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Murray is looking to win his second title here (2009) and move to No. 2 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, while Ferrer is looking to become the first Spaniard to win the title in tournament history (since 1985). He will improve to No. 4 in the rankings (from No. 5).
Murray has met David Ferrer 11 times in his career, winning six times. Ferrer on the other hand has beaten Murray once on a non-clay surface at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in 2011.
Let us watch the interesting Miami Masters final which will not only fetch title for the one but also affect changes in the world ranking. Although Andy Murray is being dubbed as hot favourite, David Ferrer has emerged as a true replacement of his countryman Rafael Nadal and has the resilience and drive to threaten Murray.
The match today is scheduled for Sunday, 31 March 2013 14:00 GMT
