Chad Dawson has accused Bernard Hopkins of faking an injury to escape defeat in their fight last October. Now he plans to prove his point when they meet in a light-heavyweight title rematch next week.
Hopkins, at 47 the oldest word champion yet, will again defend his WBC title in Atlantic City on April 28. Their previous fight ended in the second round when Dawson lifted Hopkins by a leg and slammed him to the canvas.
The fight was halted because Hopkins dislocated his left shoulder. Referee Pat Russell awarded the fight to Dawson, saying no foul was committed, but the result was changed to a no-decision and a title rematch ordered.
