Mighty Mo Retains European 5,000m title in Helsinki

Mo Farah made history when he became the first man to retain the 5,000 metres title at the  European Championships.

The feat defied legendary winners of the title such as Emil Zatopek and Vladimir Kuts but Farah did it with brutal effectiveness in the iconic setting of an Olympic Stadium built the same year the championships began 78 years ago.


Farah has improved so much since he won the title in Barcelona two years ago that Europe is no longer big enough to contain his talent. He is a global star, an Olympic champion in the making, and he dismissed the opposition with a blistering burst over the last lap.
