Sharapova beats Azarenka to reach French Open Final for likely date with Serena Williams

Defending champion and world no.2 Russian Maria Sharapova moved within one win of retaining her French Open title b beating former world no.1 Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

The score shows Azarenka striking back in the second set and winning, only to let the edge subside when she lost the third set to allow Sharapova carry the day.

Sharapova beat Errani in last year's final to complete her set of Grand Slam titles, and she will play in her eighth major final on Saturday.

Sharapova now sets a date with Serena Williams this year in French Open final - something she may not like as Serena has never let her win from her - at least in recent times.

Sharapova lost to Williams in finals of Madrid, Miami this year, while she lost to Williams in semis of Doha and finals of Istanbul and London last year.
