Serena, just a year elder to Li, has played against her ten times since they first met at Australian Open first round in 2006. Of all the ten matches, Serena has won eight times. They recently met Cincinnati in the semis when Serena beat Li 7-5, 7-5 - a very closely contested match.
In her US Open matches, Serena has generally restricted her opponents to 6-1, 6-0s while Li found it really difficult to overpower Makarova losing the second set in the quarters 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2.
Unless Li has plans to upset Serena, the American is all set on course to the finals and even win the US Open 2013 this year too.
The match is scheduled for September 6, 2013 at 19:30 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.
