Nadal Wins US Open 2013

Oh boy what a final it was tonight between the world nos 1 and 2 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows, New York America. Those who saw it would cherish it for long time to come - those who missed watching it, missed one of the greatest tennis final ever.

Nadal getting ready to serve for the match point

World no.2 Rafael Nadal was simply at his best to beat Novak Djokovic, world no.1 and 2012 years finalist 62-3-6, 6-4 and 6-1.

This is Nadal's second US Open title and his 13th career Grand Slam championship - and a very well deserved one. He has won 10 titles and runs his record to 22-0 on hard courts and 60-3 on the season. He is now four Grand Slams short of Federer's 17 - he seems to have recovered from his ailing knee and is in good form. It remains to be seen in coming years if he can overtake Federer and become a legend of the tennis world.

He beat Djokovic 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–2 in 2010 to win his first US Open title. The pattern is the same, winning first set, losing the second and then winning the nest two sets to win the title.

However, Djokovic took revenge the very next year and beat the defending champion Nadal 6–2, 6–4, 6–7(3–7), 6–1 to win his first US Open title - but lost the title to Andy Murray 7–6(12–10), 7–5, 2–6, 3–6, 6–2 in the following year 2012.

Djokovic speaks after his defeat at Arthur Ashe stadium

When asked how he felt playing with Rafa at the end of the match, Djokovic said:
"Obviously I want to congratulate Rafa and his team. He was too good, he definitely deserved to win this match and the trophy. Obviously, it's disappointing to lose a match like this. Again, it was a huge privilege and an honour to fight for this trophy. I will definitely be coming back next year. Thank you guys for supporting."
Speaking at the end of the match Nadal praised Djokovic for a fine play and well contested finale:
"First thing, I'm very, very emotional. All of my team knows how much this match today means to me. Playing against Novak is always a very special feeling and nobody brings my game to the limit like he does. Congratulations, you are an amazing player having an amazing career. I'm sure you will finish your career being one of the best in history. Best of luck to you and your team for the rest of the year and the years ahead."

Nadal vs Djokovic: US Open Final | Watch Free Live Streaming - 9 September 2013

The final of women singles between world no.1 and the defending champion American Serena Williams and world no.2 Belarussian Victoria Azarenka ended on Sunday yesterday as everyone had expected - Serena winning her fifth US Open and 17th Grand Slam title.

But today's final between world no.1 Serbian Novak Djokovic and world no.2 Spaniard Rafael Nadal is going to be something different and intense.

Last year it was Djokovic who was ditched by Britain's Andy Murray in the final - but this year Murray had been knocked out and out of the Flushing Meadows - leaving the Arthur Ashe stadium open to to top seeded giants of the world of tennis.

It will be the 37th meeting of their careers — the most times in the Open era that any two men have played. Tonight, Nadal will be going for his 13th major title, Djokovic his seventh. Djokovic and Nadal, who have been dominant over the last 15 slams, will be meeting for the 37th time in the championship showdown, surpassing McEnroe and Lendl for the most clashes since tennis turned professional 45 years ago.

Although today's final will help Djokovic to sustain a hard hitting final against Nadal after Djokovic stood to his feet for 4-hour, 9-minute five-set match against Stanislas Wawrinka in the semifinals,  Nadal is still considered by many as the hot favourite.

The match is scheduled for September 9, 2013 at 21:00 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Nadal sets date with Djokovic for US Open Tennis Final

Saturday 7th September saw two of the great semi finals being played at the Arthur Ashe stadium at Flushing Meadows, New York when the world nos 1 and 2 clashed with their opponents and won.

In the first semi final, world no.1 and the defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia beat Swiss Wawrinka 2-6 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 6-3 6-4 to qualify for his fourth straight US Open final.

Djokovic came back from a set and a break down - as he had against the Swiss ninth seed at the Australian Open in January - to win 2-6 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 6-3 6-4.

The match saw some of the most fantastic rallies between the two and a brilliant match peaked with an incredible 21-minute game at 1-1 in the decider, which saw Wawrinka  fight off five break points and both men pause at one point to take the applause of 23,000 spectators on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In the second semi final, world no.2 Rafael Nadal of Spain powered past France's Richard Gasquet 6-4 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 to set up a US Open final against world number one Novak Djokovic. Nadal thus extended his unbeaten run on hard courts this year to 21 matches - despite dropping serve for the first time in the tournament.

It may be added that it was in 2010 that Nadal beat Novak Djokovic 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–2 in the final to win his only US Open title so far.

Serena Williams vs Azarenka: US Open Final | Watch Free Live Streaming - 8 September 2013

So the big day comes for tennis fans as the final of women singles of US Open is being played Sunday evening today between world no.1 and the defending champion American Serena Williams and world no.2 Belarussian Victoria Azarenka at the Arthur Ashe stadium of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows – Corona Park, New York.

The 17th encounter between the two tennis stars is going to be really tough as Azarenka will try her utter best to break the winning spree of the American world no.1.

On the other hand, Serena Williams already 32 and eight years older to Azarenka is showing no signs of fatigue or loss of energy, as has Federer started to show off recently, and seems all set to defend her title successfully today and win the title for the fifth time ( she has won the title in years 1999, 2002, 2008, 2012).

The final today is the repeat of 2012 when the two top tennis players played the final and in the last set Serena gathered her all strengths to overpower Azarenka to win the title 6–2, 2–6, 7–5.

Azarenka will need to serve better today is she intends to win, for Williams has been at her most dominant this fortnight.

The match is scheduled for September 8, 2013 at 20:30 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Serena Williams vs Na Li: US Open Semis | Watch Free Live Streaming - 6 September 2013

The US Open enters the semis phase and Friday tonight  world no.1 American Serena Williams plays against world no. 6 Chinese Na Li at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Serena, just a year elder to Li, has played against her ten times since they first met at Australian Open first round in 2006. Of all the ten matches, Serena has won eight times. They recently met Cincinnati in the semis when Serena beat Li 7-5, 7-5  - a very closely contested match.

In her US Open matches, Serena has generally restricted her opponents to 6-1, 6-0s while Li found it really difficult to overpower Makarova losing the second set in the quarters 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2.

Unless Li has plans to upset Serena, the American is all set on course to the finals and even win the US Open 2013 this year too.

Azarenka vs Hantuchova: US Open Quarters | Watch Free Live Streaming - 4 September 2013

Thursday tonight, in the ladies singles event, world no.2 Victoria Azarenka from Belarus plays her quarter final match against 48th ranked Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Azarenka having lost her fist set against ana Ivanovic in the fourth round, recovered dramatically and won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to qualify for the quarters - and brings her closer to her first ever US Open title.

Hantuchova, who is six years older to Azarenka has met the Belarusian four times prior to their date tonight and the result has been even 2-2 since they first met at San Diego in 2007. However, the last two matches have been won by Azarenka - the latest at the Indian Wells early this year.

Would Hantuchova be a threat to Azarenka? Well she has reached the quarters - but her matches have all been against up and comers ranked outside the top 80. Alison Riske, who Hantuchova defeated 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in the fourth round, was her first top 100 opponent. So there is little doubt if she could pose any serious threat to world no.2.

The match is scheduled for September 4, 2013 at 23:00 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Serena Williams vs Navarro: US Open Quarter Finals | Watch Free Live Streaming - 3 September 2013

The US Open eneters the critical phase of the quart finals and in women's singles category, world no.1 American Serena Williams plays against 20th ranked Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro Tuesday night at Arthur Ashe stadium tonight.

Serena has her eyes well set on to the final to defend her title and has sailed through much too comfortably to the quarters without any challenging game.

She has met Carla Suarez Navarro only twice since they first met at Australian Open in 2010 and on both times, she beat her in almost straight games. They last met at Rome this year when Serena beat Carla 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth round.

Although Carla Suarez Navarro is seven years younger to Williams, but age deos not seem to be a matter of concern when it comes to Williams. She plays like a teen aged and wipes out anyone who threatens her domination of the court and the tennis world.

We do not expect any surprises tonight for Serena.

The match is scheduled for September 3, 2013 at 23:00 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Federer vs Robredo: US Open 4th Round | Watch Free Live Streaming - 2 September 2013

There are two important matches Monday today: Rafael Nadal, the clay court king plays 25th ranked German Philipp Kohlschreiber and the second between world no.7 Swiss Roger Federer and 22nd ranked Spaniard Tommy Robredo.

This is the eleventh time that Federer is playing against Robredo since they first played against each other at Sydney in 2002 - and in all ten matches Federer won.

But they haven't met since Australian Open 2011 when they played in the fourth round. So the time difference makes it difficult to guess how much Robredo has gained to be a real challenge to already ageing Federer - but then Robredo is just a year younger to Federer. This means both players are in the same age group and Federer with 17 Grand Slam titles should not find difficult to beat Robredo for the eleventh time today.

The match is scheduled for September 2, 2013 at 18:00 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.

Djokovic vs Becker: US Open 2nd Round | Watch Free Live Streaming - 30 August 2013

The US Open tennis has entered its second round with no major set back so far. In one of the many matches being played Friday today, world no.1 Novak Djokovic takes on 87th ranked German Benjamin Becker at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This is the second time that Djokovic is meeting Becker, who is six years elder to the Serbian. They first met in the Australian Open's first round in 2008 when Djokovic beat Becker 6-0 6-2 7-6(5).

This year, Djokovic is not himself as he has lost thrice in his last ten matches at the hands of Murray (Wimbledon 2013), Nadal (Montreal) and Inser at Cincinnati recently. To win US Open is a far fetched dream for now as many hurdles lie in between before he reaches the semis. Djokovic moved to the second round beating R. Berankis 6-1 6-2 6-2.

The match is scheduled for August 30, 2013 at 17:00 GMT at the Arthur Ashe stadium.
