Kim Clijsters plays farewell match with Venus: Watch Live Free Streaming | Exhibition Antwerp - 12 December 2012

29 years old Kim Clijsters, who announced her retirement form tennis after the US Open in August earlier this year, plays her farewell match with her traditional rival Venus Williams of America Wednesday in an Exhibition match at Antwerp Wednesday today.

Clijsters is a former World No. 1 in both singles and doubles and four times Grand Slam winner. According to Forbes in August 2011, she became the fifth highest-paid female athlete over the past year. The same year, she was named as one of the "30 Legends of Women's Tennis: Past, Present and Future.

On 20 May 2012, Clijsters announced that she would retire after the US Open. On 29 August 2012, Clijsters played her last singles match of her career at the 2012 US Open where she lost in the second round. On 1 September, she played her last (mixed) doubles match with Bob Bryan, losing in the second round.

The Belgian first met Venus Williams in the US Open in 2001 in the quarters and incidently she played her match against Williams again at the US Open semis in 2010. Of the 13 encounters against each other, the Belgian has a slight winning edge of 7-6 over the American.

The farewell exhibition match between Clijsters and Williams is scheduled for Wednesday, 12 December 2012 at 18:30 GMT at  Antwerp.

Djokovic, Federer,Radwanska, Sharaova move on into the Wimbledon race forward

Friday saw setback less results of all leading seeded players palying their third round matches.

World no.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated Czech Radek Stepanek 4-6 6-2 6-2 6-2  and saved himself of nay disaster at the hands of the Czech, as Nadal was beaten by Czech Rosol and was no more in the Wimbledon race.

World no.3 Swiss Roger federer, whoc is eyeing the Wimbledon trophy for the seventh time, equalling record of Pete Sempras, beat French Julien Benneteau 4-6 6-7(3) 6-2 7-6(6) 6-1.

Interestingly both Djokovic and Federer lost their first sets 6-4 before over powering their opponents.

Unseeded American Sam Querreydefeated 21st ranked canadian Milos Raonic 6-7(3) 7-6(7) 7-6(8) 6-4.

18th ranked French Richard Gasquet beat 12th ranked Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 6-3 6-4 6-4.

In the ladies' singles,world no.3 Polish Agnieszka Radwanska beat 20 years old British Heather Watson much too easily 6-0, 6-2. Watson earlier made headlines for being the first British women since 2002 to have reached the third round.

World no.1 and Roland Garros winner Russian Maria Sharapova simply beat Su-Wei Hsieh  6-1, 6-4.

Belgium's Kim Clijsters beat 12 th ranked Vera Zvonareva from Russia 6-3, 4-3 when the Russian retired in the second set due to breathing problem.

8th ranked German Angelique Kerber beat 28th ranked American Christina McHale 6-2, 6-3.

In the men's doubles, 8th ranked duo Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi / Dutch Jean-Julien Rojer defeated american Bobby Reynolds (USA) / Izak Van Der Merwe 6-3 6-7(5) 6-4 6-4 in their second round match.

saturday, 30 June, we will see more 3rd round matches, the first match of the day being between American Serena Williams and Jie Zhang of China at the Centre Court.

47th ranked Belgian Kim Clijsters plays her second round match against 90th ranked Czech Andrea Hlavackova Wednesday afternoon on the Centre Court.

Clijsters is reviving her game after many decisons of quitting and has been doing fine so far, winning seven of her last ten matches. However she admits that that her body isn't up to the demands of professional tennis anymore, but she is desperate not to quit without one last taste of the Wimbledon experience. Clijsters announced earlier this year that the U.S. Open will be her last Grand Slam tournament.


She won her first round match against J. Jankovic 6-2 6-4 Tuesday.

Andrea Hlavackova has not fared badly so far as she won six of her last ten matches. She lost one match on clay and three on grass. She moved to second round beating K. Chang 6-1 6-2.

For Wednesday's second round match, the Belgian is being considered as favourite.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday, 27 June 2012 at 16:00 GMT on Centre Court
