It was a great day for Rafael Nadal of Spain to beat world
no.2 Novak Djokovic of Serbia to successfully defend his French Open title for
the record fifth time in a row and record ninth time in total. The win today adds up his Grand Slam titles to 14, only three lesser than that of Roger Federer and equaling record of Pete Sampras.
Nadal having lost the first set 3-6 to Djokovic, came back
to his game and form and forced the Serb to succumb to his form of game and won
the next three sets 7–5, 6–2, 6–4 to defend his title.
He now tops the French Open winners as Max Decugis of open
era has won the French Open title eight times and Bjorn Borg won for six times.
