Marcel Granollers beat Italian wild card holder Fabio Fognini 6-3 6-4 wednesday to come face to face with Rafa, who eliminated Florian Mayer 6-1 7-5.
Rafa has met Granollers only once and won over him, when they met at the Indian Wells earlier this year 6-1, 6-4.
In the last ten matches played, Granollers has lost four times, last in Madrid at the hands of N. Almagro, while Nadal was ousted by F. Verdasco on the troubled blue clay of Madrid recently.
