While some of the top stars like Djokovic, Sharapova and Venus Williams played on the first day of the first round of the Australian Open and moved to the second round, the remaining topstars are playing their first round matches on 15th January.
The day starts at Rod Laver Arena with the match between world no.3 Olympic and US Open champion Britain's Andy Murray and world no. 54 Robin Haase of Netherlands.
This is the third time both Murray and Haase are meeting face to fac e in their professional careers withj a 1-1 stat. Haase beat Murray at Rotterdam in 2008 in the first round 7-5 6-3 and made Andy sweat at the US Open (2nd round) in 2011 in a five set match - however Andy finally prevailed over the Dutch 6-7(5) 2-6 6-2 6-0 6-4.
But for Tuesday's first round match, stats are not in Haase's favour as he has lost NINE out of ten matches he played recently. His last defeat was at the hands of I. Sijsling 3-6 6-3 7-5 at Auckland very recently.
Murray seems in good form and has his sights set on winning the Grand Slam to start his new year on a winning note. Although he has won his last four matches in a roe, he has lost four out of his last ten matches. He lost to J. Tipsarevic 6-3 6-4 in the last event of 2012 at Mubadala World Tennis Championship (UAE). He won his last match at Brisbane against G. Dimitrov 7-6(0) 6-4.
The first round of Australian Open Match between Murray and Haase is scheduled for Tuesday, 15 January 2013 at 00:00 GMT on the Rod Laver Arena.
