After the surprised and stunned ouster of the two top seeded players world no.2 Novak Djokovic and world no.2 Andy Murray, the interest in the tournament is almost lost.
However starting from the quarter finals from Friday today, the remaining two top seeded players, the 5th ranked David Ferrer from Spain and seventh ranked French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga meet today in the quarter final to decide who moves on to the semis and who heads to London to play the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
David Ferrer beat M. Granollers 6-1 6-3 in the third round Thursday to meet Tsonga in the quarters today.
The home crowd favourite Tsonga defeated 11th seed Nicolas Almagro 7-6(4), 7-6(3) on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals. Tsonga's victory also qualifies him for the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be played at the O2 in London from 5-12 November, where he will join will join Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Janko Tipsarevic and Juan Martin del Potro.
The match is scheduled for Friday, 2 November 2012 at 18:30 GMT.
