Del Potro defends ATP Estoril title for the second time

Top seed Juan Martin del Potro retained his title here at the Estoril Open on Sunday after inflicting a 6-4, 6-2 defeat on second seed Richard Gasquet.

The Argentine world number 12 became the third man in the tournament's history to win the clay title in successive years, following in the footsteps of Thomas Muster (1995-1996) and Albert Montanes (2009-2010).

It was also Del Potro's second title of the season after his victory in Marseille in February, and his 11th of a career which includes a US Open success in 2009.

The final was played in sunny conditions after wind and rain affected the early days of the event at the Estadio Nacional.

Qureshi / Rojer win ATP Estoril Men's Double Final

Top seeded Pakistan's Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean Rojer won the ATP Estori Men's Double title Sunday at Estoril, Portugal.

The Qureshi / Rojer  duo beat  J Knowle (AUT) / D Marrero (ESP) in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.

The Qureshi/Rojer pair had moved to the ATP Estoril men's double final by beating France’s Richard Gasquet (ranked 242) and Edouard Rojer-vasselin (ranked 78) in the semifinal on Friday night. They won 6-3, 6-1.

Another final comes today as was FA Cup Saturday when Chelsea outclassed Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley.

The Estoril Open tennis final today is a showdown between the top seeded defending champion Del Potro and second seeded Gasquet Sunday 6th May 2012 at Estoril, Portugal.

In the semi finals yesterday, Potro defeated Swiss third seed Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, while Gasquet had a difficult time agianst Spain's Albert Ramos 2-6, 7-6 (7/1), 7-5.

If Del Potro wins today, this will be his second consecutive title win at Estoril - Potro leads Gasquet 3-1 in  FedEx ATP Head 2 Head series.

Ramos vs Gasquet (ATP Estoril) - Semi Final Free Live Streaming

The first semi final of the ATP Estoril Open is being played Saturday afternoon between Spaniard Ramos and French second seed Gasquet at Estoril, Portugal.

Second seed Richard Gasquet is level at 1-1 in the series against 4th seed Albert Ramos. Saturday marks their first clash on clay.

It may be added here that Gasquet lost the 2007 final to Novak Djokovic on his last visit to Estoril. For Ramos, it is his second semi final of 2012 after Casablanca.

The semi final of the ATP Estoril Open tennis championship gets played between defending champion Del Potro and Swiss third seed Wawrinka Saturday afternoon at Estoril, Portugal.

Wawrinka defeated 6th seed Robin Haase in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-4. The 27-year-old Swiss looks to make his first final since early 2011, when he sealed a title-winning run in Chennai.

In Saturday's semi final, Del Potro will attempt to break a 2-2 series tie against Wawrinka on Saturday. The Argentine holds a 2-1 edge on clay.

The match is scheduled for Saturday 5 May at 15:30 GMT

Del Potro reaches semi-finals [ATP Estoril]

Top seeded Juan Martin del Potro defeated seventh seeded Albert Montanes in straight sets 6-2 6-2 to reach the semi finals of the ATP Estoril Open at Estoril, Portugal.

Del Potro will play third-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka on Saturday for a place in Sunday's final. The Swiss player, making his debut at Estoril, beat sixth-seeded Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-1, 6-4.

In the second quarter final match, Second-seeded Richard Gasquet beat Spanish Daniel Munoz de la Nava 7-6 (1), 6-2 to reach the last fours. The Frenchman will take on fourth-seeded Albert Ramos after the Spaniard overcame Portugal's Joao Sousa 6-2, 6-3.

The defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro who outclassed Rui Machado 6-1, 6-0 to reach the quarter-finals of ATP Estoril Open on Thursday, faces two-time former champion Albert Montanes in the quarterfinals of the ATP Estoril Friday today.

In his fourth round of play, Potro hit four aces and won 70 per cent of his service points in just over an hour to move on to a 24-6 record for 2012.

Albert Montanes, seeded seventh, who initially lost the first set to American Bobby Reynolds, won the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The match between Potro and Montanes is schedlued for Friday 4th May, 2012 at 14:45 GMT.

Del Potro moves to Estoril quarters

The defending champion of ATP Estoril Open Juan Martin del Potro made defeated Portugal's Rui Machado in simple straight sets 6-1, 6-0 and reached the quarter-finals of the Estoril Open on Thursday.

Del Potro, the top seed and defending champion, was playing an ATP match on the surface for the first time this season after winning two clay Davis Cup rubbers at home in April when Argentina defeated Croatia. 

Despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise, the 23-year-old Argentinian admitted Machado had tested him as he looks to build his form.

A.Qureshi/J.Roger V T.Huey/D.Inglot: ATP Estoril Free Live Stream

Yesterday the Pakistan-Dutch pair A.Qureshi/J.Roger won over their first round match of the ATP Estoril against Gastao Elias/Joao Sousa.
