Qureshi-Rojer lose to Bryan Brothers in Barclays World Tour Finals [Doubles]


Pakistan tennis top seed Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer were knocked out of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals doubles series in London, UK after losing to the Bryan brothers on Friday.

Qureshi and Rojer lost both sets of the match to the American duo 7-5, 6-4.


They now have a 32-23 record for this season, highlighted by two ATP World Tour titles at the Estoril Open and Gerry Weber Open. The Pakistani-Dutch duo had lost their first match in the ATP finals to India’s Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek 4-6, 5-7 on Tuesday.

Aisam fails to get wildcard entry into London Olympics

Major heartbreak was in store for Aisamul Haq Qureshi a day before he launched his Wimbledon campaign as he missed out on a wild-card for the London Olympics – his aim since the turn of the year.

Aisam, who parted ways with Rohan Bopanna, missed out on automatic qualification after failing to feature in the top-10 by the cut-off date – the end oft he French Open where he and doubles partner Jean-Julien Rojer lost to the Bryan brothers in the semi-finals. 
Aisam then failed to get one of the eight ITF places that the governing body allotted, ending his chances to become the first Pakistani tennis player to feature in the global event.
Ironically, Aisam’s previous and current partners – Bopanna and Rojer – both made it to the Olympics for India and the Netherlands respectively.

Halle Champions Qureshi-Rojer advance to ATP ‘s-Hertogenbosch quarters

After lifting the silverware at Halle recently in men's double title category, Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer reached the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the ATP   ‘s-Hertogenbosch / UNICEF Open in Netherlands on Tuesday.

Qureshi and Rojer overcame an initial stiff challenge to beat Alejandro Falla and Santiago Giraldo of Colombia in straight sets. The second-seeded pair bagged the closely-contested first set after a tie-break 7-6 (7-4). In the second set, the recently-crowned Halle Open champions sailed home with ease with a 6-2 scoreline.

The tournament, being held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, is the pair’s last grass-court tournament before the Wimbledon Championships.


Qureshi and Rojer won their second title as a team, when they won the Halle Open in Germany last weekend. Earlier, they won the Estoril Open in Portugal.

Pakistan's Qureshi and his Dutch partner Rojer capture Halle

Pakistan's Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, who last year paired with his former Indian partner Rohan Bopanna won the ATP Halle men's double event, successfully defended his title and won the Gerry Weber Open 2012 Sunday.

However, the only difference was that this year, he won the Halle title with his new new Dutch partner Jean Julian Rojer. The pair beat Treat Conrad Huey and Scott Lipsky 6-3, 6-4.


After the win, Qureshi told ATPWorldTour.com:
“I knew it was going to be a tough final. I played Huey three times this year and Lipsky twice, so we had a little bit of an idea on what to do. Because they had lost to us, we knew they would come in pumped, so we expected them to play really well.” 
Qureshi and Rojer improved to a 2-0 record in title matches, having lifted their first team trophy in Estoril (d. Knowle/Marrero). Both won their seventh career ATP World Tour title.

The Pakistan-Dutch duo Qureshi/Rojer play the men's double semi final against the third ranked American Bryan Brothers at Court Suzanne Lenglen Thursday afternoon.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has earned his best position at Roland Garros French Open by reaching its semifinal, whereby he also boosted his prospects of getting a berth in the London Olympics. This is the second time Aisam has reached the semifinal stage of any grand slam.

Aisam and  Jean Julien Rojer defeated the pair of Michael Llorda of France and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia, who are ranked 5th and 6th respectively On Tuesday to reach the semis. 

If Aisam-Rojer pair won the Open they would get 2,000 points. If they lose the final they would earn 1,200 points. Winning the semifinal would bag them 720 points. But Aisam, currently ranked 16th, needs more than 1,000 points to be among the top ten players - so this means the Aisam/Rojer duo must win the Roland Garros semi Thursday.

Well best of luck then Aisam and Rojer for Thursday's semi.

Aisam, Rojer march into French Open semi-finals

Aisamul Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer marched into the semi-finals of the French Open men’s doubles on Tuesday.
Qureshi and Rojer had faced off against third-seeded pair Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic. However, the on-song duo managed to dispatch their opponents 6-4 and 2-1.
This is the furthest Qureshi has managed to go in the French Open. His previous best was a knock-out at the quarter finals stage.
They will now face the second seeded Bryan brothers in the next round who won their match Oliver Marach of Austria and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

Qureshi / Rojer win ATP Estoril Men's Double Final

Top seeded Pakistan's Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his Dutch partner Jean Rojer won the ATP Estori Men's Double title Sunday at Estoril, Portugal.

The Qureshi / Rojer  duo beat  J Knowle (AUT) / D Marrero (ESP) in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.

The Qureshi/Rojer pair had moved to the ATP Estoril men's double final by beating France’s Richard Gasquet (ranked 242) and Edouard Rojer-vasselin (ranked 78) in the semifinal on Friday night. They won 6-3, 6-1.

A.Qureshi/J.Roger V T.Huey/D.Inglot: ATP Estoril Free Live Stream

Yesterday the Pakistan-Dutch pair A.Qureshi/J.Roger won over their first round match of the ATP Estoril against Gastao Elias/Joao Sousa.

Thursday afternoon today, the pair now faces T.Huey/D.Inglot in the second round match of the men's doubles of the ATP Estoril. The two pairs have not played each other before.

Tennis star 'Qureshi' Weds in Lahore

Aisam ul Haq 'Qureshi' , the famous Pakistan tennis star, who made headlines in 2010 for playing the US Open Men's Doubles Final with his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna, gets married in Lahore in a colourful wedding ceremony, Saturday night.

Qureshi was seen beaming in a white sherwani artfully ornamented, weded Faha Makhdoom. The two had made headlines when they got engaged in July earlier this year. Faha Makhdoom, a British citizen, wore a red dress with golden encrustations. She had recently acquired a masters degree in psychotherapy from the University of Greenwich, UK, reports The Express Tribune.

The wedding took place in the Lahore Garrison Club. The wedding was also attended, besides many other,  by Qureshi's previous tennis partner Rohan Bopanna, who had specially flown in from India.
