In the continuing race for a place at Brazil 2014 Spain host Finland in a World Cup Qualifier Friday tonight.

Spain is on an 18-match unbeaten run (W14, D4) stretching back to November 2011 and La Roja have won three of their last four encounters with Finland.

As for Finland, it has only won three of its last nine internationals (W3, D3, L3) - Suomi is ranked 87th in the world, having never qualified for a major tournament. Finland's last win over Spain was a 2-0 success in a World Cup qualifier in June 1969.

The match is scheduled for Friday, 22 March 2013 at | 3:45 p.m ET | 19:45 GMT | at Segunda side Sporting Gijon's El Molinon.

In the second quarter final of the IIHC Ice Hockey Championship, Russia will play their match against the Norway Thursday morning at Helsinki, Finland in their upcoming ihf 2012 World Championship.


Russia played 1 and win 1 match and now they have to face an other big team of the ICE Hockey Norway. Norway played 1 match and they have lost that game and now they have to win this match to get some points on the table.


However, Team Russia will have to struggle against Norway, although it has already defeated Norway 4-2 in earlier matches,  and it will definately not be a walk in the park for Russia who experienced serious troubles with Norway’s powerplay during the preliminary round.

It may be added that Russia started the tournament on Saturday, May 5, with a 5-2 victory over Latvia, before going on to beat Norway 4-2 on Sunday, Germany 2-0 on Tuesday, and Denmark 3-1 on Thursday.

Watch Live Online Canada vs Slovakia IIHF Ice Hockey Quarters Free Streaming

Canada moves into the quarters of the  IIHF World Hockey Championship and plays against Slovakia Thursday morning at Helsinki, Finland.

Canada is said to be in the best possible path into the medal round at the World Hockey Championship after clinching top spot in the Helsinki pool with a 5-1 victory over Belarus on Tuesday.

And Thursday, Canada faces a tough opposition in a do-or-die game against Slovakia, which won five straight games to finish the round robin. As a result, the Slovaks secured a spot in the 2014 Olympic tournament and now believe they have what it takes to win a medal here.

It may be recalled that the Buffalo Sabres made headlines earlier this month when they stunned USA 4-2 to claim their first victory at the world Ice Hockey Championship.

If Canada wins over over Slovakia, it would play the winner of the Czech-Sweden game in the semifinals - but would it be so?
